In the Camera Bag header, picture of Bronica GS-1 camera

Although I own several digital cameras, the main cameras used to capture the images in this book were the Bronica GS-1 (6x7cm) and Fujifilm G617 (panorama 6x17cm), both medium format film cameras. Seventy-six photographs in the book were shot with film and twelve with digital. I’m not anti-digital and there are times when digital works better. I just enjoy my film cameras, especially the workflow and big glass lenses, including a massive 500mm lens for the GS-1. Fujichrome Provia 100f is my film of choice.

For the past few years I have been carrying a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 camera and lenses into the field along with my medium format equipment. The GH2 captures exceptional HD video and you can see some of the results on the Video Page. The photograph of a moose on page 210 in the book was also captured with the GH2. It has become an essential part of my camera bag.
